As early as the Belle Époque, chocolate was recommend [sic] to holiday guests and travellers. (1890) ~from the Sprüngli website If you know me, you know I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth. I’ve never been a so-called chocoholic, and I’ll pretty much always choose burgers over brownies, sandwiches over shortcakes, tacos over trifles, and I’ve always preferred a slice of pizza over a slice of cake. Last week, however, I think my sweet tooth may have finally come out. When in Rome Switzerland Now, don’t get me wrong. I ate a lot of great savory dishes in Switzerland. Fondue, raclette, rosti, pretzels, bratwurst…oh, how I miss Swiss food…

Amateurs Eat Raclette
“Jet lag is for amateurs.” ~Dick Clark Ugh, jet lag. No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to fall asleep during a flight. It doesn’t matter how much water I drink—they say that helps to prevent jet lag—or how long I stay awake the day before an international flight, I just can’t seem to fall asleep on the plane. Travel pillows, comfy clothes, the softest classical music, window seat, aisle seat (my personal favorite), and none of it helps me really sleep. I’m short and so I don’t need a lot of leg room, but I still can’t seem to get comfortable. I guess I haven’t learned how…

Carnitas Lonja
“I could write prophetically about how perfect the taco is.” ~Ken Baumann When it comes to perfect tacos, San Antonio has more than its fair share. Maybe not prophetically, as Mr. Baumann suggests, but even I should be writing about them more. When it comes to the best thing I eat on a regular basis, tacos are often on my list. Whether those tacos be breakfast, lunch, dinner, beef, pork or chicken (or even fish), San Antonio has them all and I eat them all. And while mostly Tex-Mex, and mostly on flour tortillas they may be, we’ve definitely got a taco for everyone, every palate and every occasion. They…

So, What Have I Been Eating?
“Time and tide wait for no man.” ~Geoffrey Chaucer “Time and eating wait for no blogger.” ~Elda Eats I don’t know how long Mr. Chaucer ever went without writing a blog post (you know, once he got started), but I will say that I’m sure he took a break to visit Canterbury in order to do research, perhaps try out some new writing implements, practice a new prose, etc. Lucky for him, he didn’t also have to worry about any Gutenberg updates to WordPress while he was dilly dallying! Yeah, yeah, I know. Twenty-first century new blogger problems, and yeah, I’m not really comparing myself to an amazing poet who…

Making friends and writing blog posts…
I know, I know, I’m behind…but I’ve been working on lots of research and have been taking some courses on this stuff. But, yes, I told myself that I wasn’t going to get caught up in, or rather get left behind because of the technical stuff, as the main thing is…yep: I’ve gotta write! So, here’s some writing… XO “The great thing about new friends is that they bring new energy to your soul.” ~Shanna Rodriguez So, I’ve decided to be a blogger. A food blogger. Maybe a travel blogger. A traveling food blogger. A food blogger who travels. A person who wants to write about something. Something I know, something…
