“Every adventure is worthwhile.” ~Amelia Earhart Indeed, Amelia. And on our shared birthday last week, the food adventure at a greenhouse in Iceland was definitely worthwhile! While Icelandic sheep outnumber people 3-to-1 (or so I was told, by both guidebook and Icelanders alike), their ability to produce well, produce – as in vegetables – is a little more complicated it seems. Avocados and other things we Americans take for granted are quite expensive in Iceland, and you can see why fish and lamb are sometimes more economical than ordering a big salad off of a restaurant menu. That being said, a visit to Fridheimar Farm was a special food adventure with…

Bæjarins Beztu…
“I haven’t eaten everywhere, but it’s on my list.” ~Elda Eats Eating in Iceland. From the time my friends and I started planning our trip, I knew eating on this vacation would be an adventure. I mean, how often can one blog about eating from the northern most capital in the world. I’ve always been one of those people who reads all about a place before I visit. I love to learn about the history, the culture, the people, and the food. And depending on where, I especially love learning about the food. While many people make a packing list right away or begin planning their wardrobe, I immediately start…

Chris Madrid’s…
Once upon a time, there was a girl who ate pretty well last week. I usually do eat well this time of year. In fact, the week before I leave for my annual end of July vacation is always an adventure in trying to eat all the things I’ll miss when I’m gone. Even though I won’t be gone that long. I mean, I can live without my favorite Tex-Mex plate and lemon donuts for two weeks, right? Maybe. Maybe not (so well). At any rate, the best thing I ate was one of my favorite bacon cheeseburgers from a local place in San Antonio called Chris Madrid’s. It’s been…

Behold, pizza cake…
Yesterday counts as last week, right? Okay, okay. If you know me in real life, or follow me here—or anywhere on social media—you already know that yesterday was all about pizza cake. Yes, that sounds dramatic, but it was pizza cake. Two words. One delicious culinary masterpiece. Hashtag dramatic. 😉 A few years ago, the legend of pizza cake started making its presence known around the internet, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I would have to promise myself to add it to the good old bucket list. (My food bucket list, yeah, but truth be told, the majority of my bucket list is made up of…

Good food brings everybody to the table…
“Good food brings everybody to the table.” ~Lidia Bastianich It should come as no surprise that I ate well last week. And like most weeks, I drank well, too. But besides eating my usual fair share of bacon and drinking a few liters or so of Earl Grey, what was the best thing I ate last week? It was pizza. And not fancy pizza either, but pizza from one of those popular chains that delivers. Delivery pizza! What a great invention. Am I right or am I right?! Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t even close to being the best pizza I’ve ever had. I mean, I’ve been to Naples.…
