“What’ll ya’ have?!” ~my new favorite folks at The Varsity What a great weekend I had in Atlanta! Not only because the food was great, a few bucket list items were ticked off, but also because, after this being my second visit, I find Atlanta to be one of the friendliest and prettiest big cities I’ve visited. I love Atlanta! It was always going to be a quick visit: leave Friday after work for a nice direct flight from SAT to ATL, and head back the same way on Monday morning. What would we do in between those flights to and fro? The small plan was to have some good…

Making friends and writing blog posts…
I know, I know, I’m behind…but I’ve been working on lots of research and have been taking some courses on this stuff. But, yes, I told myself that I wasn’t going to get caught up in, or rather get left behind because of the technical stuff, as the main thing is…yep: I’ve gotta write! So, here’s some writing… XO “The great thing about new friends is that they bring new energy to your soul.” ~Shanna Rodriguez So, I’ve decided to be a blogger. A food blogger. Maybe a travel blogger. I posted most of this a few years ago, after I had been home a little over a week after a trip to London, Paris and Amsterdam and I was already ready for my next adventure. I was likely already planning the next one (which happened to be a Christmas road trip to see Mount Rushmore and then to cozy up in a cabin in West Yellowstone in Montana). I’ve always loved traveling; I’ve always loved maps and globes and compasses; Christopher has always been my patron saint; I’ve always had that thing called wanderlust.…

Taking care of people at The Barn Door…
“Having been in the restaurant business, our job in the restaurant business is to be responsible for our customers’ happiness. It’s the nature of the hospitality business. You need to take care of people.” ~Andrew Zimmern I agree with Andrew Zimmern, and I think he could have been talking about The Barn Door in San Antonio. My goodness, how had I never been to The Barn Door before last week?! What a great San Antonio place! I loved it! The experience may have been just a little bit better than the food (for the price) but the food was really good. I had the lady’s filet mignon…
